The novelist Stephen King claims that when he writes, he writes for his Ideal Reader, who happens to be his wife. As he's writing, he imagines what his Ideal Reader's reaction will be to what he's writing-will they laugh at the parts that are supposed to be funny, will they be frightened when they're supposed to be, etc. He images his Ideal Reader reading over his shoulder and that makes him write better and for a specific audience whose opinion he values.
If you had to select someone to be your Ideal Audience Member during your speeches this semester, who would it be and why? Select someone whose opinion you value and whose presence in the audience would make you want to develop and deliver the best speech you possibly can.
Explain your ideal audience member in a well-developed 1-2 paragraph blog post. You should also read and comment substantively on at least 3 peers' posts. Your post and comments are due by 8 a.m. Sept. 10.
