Very soon, your group will be presenting your PSA to the class and giving us an overview of your public service campaign. But, unlike the other speeches and presentations you’ve given this term, this one will have to be done “naked.” For some, this may feel liberating; for others, it may feel like their worst nightmare come to life. Either way, all of you are sure to feel at least some anxiety at the prospect of presenting without the aid of prompts, notes, props, or a podium. Anxiety before and during public speaking is normal and you’ll probably be surprised to learn that even people who speak publicly every day, like me, still experience this anxiety.
Read the Presentation Zen article “Coping with Presentation Anxiety & "Stage Fright" and watch the videos that are included and compose a 1-2 paragraph blog post in which you discuss your response to the article and videos and answer the following questions:
1) How would you rate your public speaking anxiety level at this point in the semester? How much lower is this rating than what you would rate your anxiety level at the beginning of the semester?
2) How has this class helped with reducing your stage fright? (If it hasn’t helped to reduce it, then explain why not).
3) What coping techniques have you used to help reduce your stage fright and which would you recommend to others?
